Dr. Christiane Girard gives the Rank Lecture in Animal Nutrition
Dr Christiane Girard of the Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada was selected to give the prestigious Rank Lecture in Animal Nutrition at the 7th International Symposium on Energy and Protein Nutrition (ISEP), organized by the specific working group of the EAAP Nutrition Study Commission.
Dr Girard’s research focus is on B vitamins in ruminants and dairy cows, and their impact on intermediary metabolism, milk yield, and composition. She is considered one of the leading scientists and experts in B vitamins. Her work has challenged the generally accepted concept that the dietary requirements of dairy cows for B vitamins do not have to be considered because their synthesis by the rumen microflora is sufficient to prevent deficiency symptoms. She has made an outstanding contribution to improving estimations of the supply and requirements of B vitamins.
The Rank Lecture is sponsored by Rank Prize.
