Kaviri is a Non-Governmental Service Organization managed by the youth of the Cauvery delta in Tamil Nadu who are engaged in various kinds of jobs in the region. ‘Let’s do something good for the society that we live in’ is the prime motive of this movement. Starting with ensuring that the basic amenities are available to one and all, Kaviri is also involved in development-related activities like education, employment and cleanliness.
Founded in the year 2012, the association is a government-recognized body and is registered under the Tamil Nadu societies registration act – 1975 as ‘Kaviri Village Development Society’ (Regn No: 101/2012). This is a non-profitable organization that strives to provide all facilities to the residents of the area, without discriminating on the basis of religion, caste, region, language or gender. Hundreds of young men and women and students participate in its activities as volunteers. Socially-conscious personalities and intelligentsia from all over the country are members of the advisory board. Kaviri’s activities are based on the suggestions offered by them.
The villages in the Cauvery delta region have a large population of farmers and agricultural labourers. ‘Kaviri’ aims at ensuring that these villagers are truly self-sufficient in all aspects and to provide an environment that makes it possible for them to live a happy and fulfilling life.
